Warm & Cool watercolor landscapes

6th Grade Warm & Cool Landscapes in Watercolor Pencil

The upper grades already know the color wheel, so we focus on warm & cools.

Materials: watercolor paper, rulers, pencil, eraser, Crayola Watercolor pencils (24 pack), small brush, water cups.

We use the rulers to create 2 frame on our papers. I cut the paper large enough so we can use the width of the ruler around the edges, to make it a quick and easy step.

We draw in each landscape. The desert for the warm and the ocean for the cool. I kept it to 4 lines for each landscape.
I give a quick talk about warm & cool colors, and quiz them a little by randomly pulling colors out of the box to have them tell me if it’s warm or cool.
We color in the sky. Leave white for the sun in the desert and white for the clouds in the ocean landscape. Then work coloring through the rest of the landscapes.

Once it’s all colored, we use a small amount of water, working top to bottom, and paint water on each section of color. Rinsing the brush after each color.

These all turned out beautiful!
