If you teach in the ART ROOM, on an ART CART, HOMESCHOOL parent, or even if you’re a CLASSROOM teacher wanting more art in to your curriculum, here’s my ART SUPPLY RECOMMENDATIONS for great art making.

BASICS FOR A SCHOOL ART PROGRAM OR FOR ART AT HOME!!

BASICS! MY PAL pencils are the best! They don’t break when dropped, I barely have to sharpen, and they blend nicely for sketching projects! Erasers, you don’t need anything fancy, these PINK PEARL ERASERS do the trick. SHARPIES are just a perfect tool for so many projects! ART PALETTES for paint. A little studio trick is to cover in PRESS N SEAL for quick clean up or to keep paint from drying out in between classes.

CHALK/PASTELS! CRAYOLA DRAWING CHALK I use a lot. Works similar to soft pastels, but they don’t include white WHITE CRAYOLA CHALK, so I add in a piece to the sets. CHARCOAL I use from second grade and up for sketching and shading projects.

OIL PASTELS!! CRAYOLA OIL PASTELS are my fav! The NEON color pack has fun bold colors to add a fun pop to projects too.

CRAYONS!! I almost always stick to CRAYOLA CONSTRUCTION PAPER CRAYONS. The colors are great and they have better coverage than regular crayons. Check out my post on organizing these guys

PAPER! WATERCOLOR PAPER is so versatile for any painting projects: watercolor, acrylic, and tempera. Another go-to is BLACK CARDSTOCK, BLUE CARDSTOCK and NEON COLOR CARDSTOCK. It works for tempera and acrylic projects and all the other mediums. I do a lot of projects on black & blue card stock throughout the school year. So I always stock up at the start of the year.

BRUSHES!!!! SO IMPORTANT! It’s so difficult for kids to control paint when their using cruddy brushes. Usually the school-issued brushes are terrible. Buy your kids nice brushes. It makes all the difference in the world when they’re art-making. BRUSH CLASS PACK

CLAY!! CRAYOLA AIR DRY CLAY is perfect if you don’t have a kiln. It’s strong and is easy to work with. There’s a few projects that I use SCULPEY POLYMER CLAY, but it does need to be baked in an oven (which requires me carefully taking everything home to bake), but it is mess-free and so versatile. CRAYOLA MODEL MAGIC is also a fun sculpting material.

WATERCOLORS! I switch between liquid watercolors and watercolor pans depending on the look I’m trying to achieve.

COLOR PENCILS! CRAYOLA WATERCOLOR PENCILS are my go to for color pencils. I rarely use them with water. They are a great assortment of colors, and budget friendly to stock a class room.
